Richard Mille

In the same way that Godard initiated the “New Wave” in cinema, Richard Mille has turned the conventions of prestige watch making upside down by coming up with a revolutionary concept to meet the high expectations of a handful of wealthy enthusiasts, ready to pay any price for their dream watch. Unique design, high-tech materials and ultra-innovative architecture, every detail makes a RICHARD MILLE watch an exclusive timepiece full of character and a look that is instantly recognisable. The delivery of the 1000th example of the Richard Mille RM005 in Paris, has given us the opportunity for an admiring glance in the direction of this contemporary master of the art, and you the chance to discover what could justly be called “a symbol of exceptional watch making. Since 1999, when he decided to launch his brand, Richard Mille has consecrated his time to becoming familiar with the high expectations of privileged clients. Many hours of discussion with Laurent Picciotto, recognised as an enthusiastic discoverer by the most elite of an international clientèle, have resulted in marketing solutions for his project and the new brand’s position right from the start at the top of the scale of already very high prices.

Italian industrial designer Luca Serafini has created a new Ferrari concept as a replacement proposal for the current Ferrari F430. The young, Italian designer says that his latest concept was partially inspired from various classic Ferrari models of the past. The latest design, dubbed the Ferrari Concept 2008, is based on the F430 supercar and shows a possible design direction for the next-gen model. Drawing on inspiration from both past and present Ferrari models, Serafini wanted something that could stand on its own but would always be recognized as a Ferrari.

BMW has been revealed some photos of the new BMW M1 Hommage Concept. To mark the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1 super sports car, BMW Group Design is presenting a homage to this legendary model as part of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2008. The BMW M1 designed by Giorgio Giugiaro was a car of superlatives and a highly emotive vehicle that was uncompromisingly primed for the race track. Spawning this development was the BMW Turbo by Paul Bracq, a revolutionary concept car which, in addition to its groundbreaking functional design, also boasted a raft of technical innovations. It is from these two unique vehicles that the BMW M1 Homage takes its cue - a design study that pays tribute to its forerunner models and an embodiment of the competence, creativity and potential of the BMW Group Design team.

The stunning blend of breakthrough technology and advanced integrated mechanical movement design, encased upside down in a daring evolution of the iconic TAG Heuer Monaco creates for a masterpiece of a watch. The concept watch works much like a car transmission. The Monaco V4 has an oblong weight which moves in a central channel, in turn powering four ball-bearing barrels. Tag are calling it the first patented belt-drive watch mechanism; all I know is that I want one!

john Ive has done wonders with apple but know its time for a new direction and some fresh blood to take hold of design in the ever evolving company. Dont get me wrong i like apple, but only as a tool nothing more. It seems so generic so very clean, as if it belongs to a hospital design studio. Take a look at this creation by well no one from apple that for sure. With OLED technology growing by the day this soon well be very possible and will be done. lets see if apple fallows the trend.

The Lamborghini Embolado Concept was designed by Luca Serafini, an Industrial Design final year student at University of Parma, Italy. It’s design is extreme an fresh. What a cool car to have in the garage. Most likely we will not see this car in production but its a new direction in car design.

Ducati inspired electric screwdriver. There are vents on the side of the model to create better circulation for the motor much like the Ducati motorcycles have. The form is fast and inviting to hold. The pictures above are from physical models.
